Vacation Bible School 2014

Two weeks ago our church held VBS and both kids went all week long.  I wondered how Asher would do, since he's technically too young to attend, but they had a special class for 2 and 3 year olds that he went to.  Both kids had a good time.  Asher was a bit iffy each morning at drop off, but ended up loving it all week long.  Amelia made a new BFF (more on that in a later post) and had a blast all week.  Friday night after the program they had a family night at a local pool.  We went and I failed to take a single picture, however, Asher loved the cotton candy the most. :)  We had a great turn out and reached a lot of kids in our community through VBS.  My kids are already looking forward to next year! :)

Day One
Every year they take in pennies and have a friendly competition between the boy and the girls to see who can bring more pennies.  Here are the kids changing their dollars into pennies.

Going in through 'security' on day one.

Day Two
It was a raining morning, we hung out in the car trying to wait for the down pour to pass.

Day Three
Looking like a big girl.

4th of July

I love that July 4th fell on a Friday this year, it was fabulous having an extra long weekend!  We decided to have a Sunday School get together at our house for the 4th.  It's been awhile since we all got together and did anything as a group, and since we now have the space we offered to host.  I'm SO glad we did.  We had such a great time, eating, visiting and watching fireworks.  All together there were about 50 people at our house on the evening on the 4th. Of those 50, 14 or 15 were under the age 5 (and 4 more in bellies)!  Lots of fun!  I failed to take any pictures while everyone there because I was busy running around doing one thing or another.  But I believe everyone had a great time, I can't wait to do it again!
I put the kids to work snapping beans the day of the party so I could cook them.
Best we could manage before everyone showed up.
Asher wasn't feeling it.
She IS NOT camera shy. :)
We skipped a day in our 4th of July festivities on Saturday, but Sunday evening we headed to my Dad's house for more food, fun and fireworks.
Before we left they posed fairly well in their shirts we made. (Got to love pinterest)

All the kids and Granny Karla checking out snakes.
We had a great holiday weekend.  We are all worn out, but that's what summer is for, fun and exhausting weekends!!
