Kids say the funniest things...

Amelia to me while sitting on the potty. "Mom, I just went tinkle. Tinkle is Spanish for potty."

Amelia while sitting in Hawgwild while having dinner, in a calm and controlled voice while looking around at all the other customers. "Attention big people and little people, calm down." I guess she thought it was too noisy.

Asher where is your, fill in the blank? We ask him this question a lot.
Asher: "I don't know."
Us: "Well you need to find if."
Asher: "No mommy do it."
Clearly he's a man. :)

Amelia to Sara one day while at her house, "I saw a two legged animal outside, I think I saw a peacock."  Sara goes to the window and sees nothing, but tells Amelia that she thinks she saw a turkey.  A few days later while at the farm/park we see turkey in the pin, Amelia says to me. "Look Mom peacocks!"

As I was plucking my eyebrows the other day, Amelia asks, "Mom are you picking splinters out of your eyes?"

The other morning at 3:30 am Asher woke up and started saying, "binky back, binky back."  Guess he thought we had stole his binky in the middle of the night, thankfully he found it and was back to sleep quickly.

While we were in St. Louis on vacation Amelia kept referring to the hotel as the 'show and tell' and the St. Louis Arch was the 'Snow de Arc'.  She's so funny.

Amelia to me the other morning, "Mom, do you think God is awake?"  Me, "Sure."  Amelia, "Do you think he's making his coffee?"

Asher knows how to get straight at my heart.  Recently he stood in his crib in the middle of the night crying out "Mommy cuddle little bit more," over and over.  Needless to say, he won.

While on vacation I was trying to get Amelia to come to me so I could put her hair up in a pony tail.  She told me she needed to do something else and I told her no, come here.  She turned around and said, "Mom you just have to be patient."  Ugh, I'm constantly telling her the SAME thing.

4th of July

We spend our holiday at Big Cedar in a two bedroom cabin with Mema, Poppy and Kylie.  We played hookie from work on Wednesday and started our super long weekend at SDC.  The weather was prefect and we actually stayed at the park until about 4:00, this is the longest the kids have ever been able to make it.  I'm sure I've mentioned this before but Amelia is now tall enough to ride the majority of the rides, so on this particular trip she tried out The American Pledge with daddy!  You can't see her very well in the pictures because she was right up against Nathan, but she says she liked it and will ride again!

Thursday morning we hit one of the many pools at the resort and played until about noon when we headed back to the cabin for lunch and afternoon naps. There was a big picnic type thing at the resort that afternoon with games, food and crafts with a fireworks show afterwards.  Neither of our kids have seen fireworks before, they go to bed WAY before dark and keeping them up is a bad idea.  However, we were on vacation and heard that the fireworks where great.  So after fairly decent afternoon naps we headed over to check the picnic out and scoop out a place to put out lawn chairs and blankets for the show. Amelia and Asher rode a few rides, played at the playground, jumped in a bouncy house and made sand art necklaces until early evening when we returned to our spot to wait for the show.  And what a show it was, the fireworks were amazing!  Amelia was scared of the noise at first and had a minor melt down.  Asher LOVED it and was smiling and laughing and clapping his hands.  Amelia ended up liking it too. Both kids were up until nearly 10:30, which is 3 1/2 hours and 2 1/2 hours past their bedtimes, but the did awesome!  It was a great 4th of July!

Fun at the Lake

Sunday afternoon we rented a pontoon and spent the day on the lake.  Another first for the kids and I think they loved it.  Asher asked for the boat again this morning.  We were out for about 5 or 6 hours which was a good amount of time.  Asher took a nap on the boat as well.  Probably the biggest challenge was towards the end of the day the kids were sick of having their life jackets on but they had no other option. :)   We were able to relax a bit, fish some, and do a little swimming and tubing.  It was a great day with the family.  :)
My big guy, saying 'cheese'.

Checking out the lake.

My favorite people.

Driving with Poppy.

Fishing with Poppy.

Swimming in the lake.

She was unsure about the lake.

Reeling in her first catch.

Her first fish! When we went to throw it back in the water, she said, "No wait we can cook it on the grill!"

Taking a nap.  Life on a boat is hard. :)
