Weekend Recap

The weekend flew by, as usual, and we managed to pretty much cram every minute full of something!

Saturday morning was my first organized bike ride!  Nathan, Joe, Myron, Alan and Mendy Hubbard and I rode the Nixa Bike Ride, put on by St. John's.  I opted for the 40 mile route, seeings how this was double my farthest ride to date!  Nathan was wonderful and stayed with me the whole ride, even though the 70 mile  route would have been more his speed.  I'm happy to say I made it through all 42 miles, not 40 miles!  I wasn't so sure I'd be able to finish at about mile 12.  I had a 'moment' and about passed out, but after that I was good.  This was the most challenging ride I've ridden so far and it included LOTS of HILLS, not humps!

Us before the ride

Joe and I at the rest stop in Republic at mile 26.

I think I can, I think I can.  I'm pretty sure this was a hill. Look at the determination!

Nathan and I, aren't we cute?

Done!  I did it!

After the ride we went and picked up Amelia from Grandma's house and headed to Lowe's to get some flowers, that I needed to plant in my pots out front of our house like 3 weeks ago!  That evening was Aden's 3rd birthday party!  I can't believe that he's three already, he got some great toys and I got a yummy chocolate cupcake!

Sunday was church and Amelia's official half birthday!!  She's SIX months old!  One word can sum that up, unbelieveable.  That afternoon we ran to Springfield to do a little shopping.  Here's Amelia hanging out in the stroller or should I say hanging ON in the stroller.  She was super sleepy at this point, but when I went to take her picture she smiled real big, I love it!

After shopping we can home and I planted my flowers and Nathan mowed the yard.  God blessed us with wonderful weather all weekend and we enjoyed every minute of it!

SIX MONTHS old...when did that happen?

Amelia had her six month well visit on Thursday the 20th.  She's doing great; weighing in at 17 lbs 1 oz, in the 80% percentile, 27 inches long which is the 95% percentile.  She received three shots and one oral vaccination.  Shots always make her sleepy, which is a nice break, since she normally doesn't nap well!!  Dr. Sears also informed us that she would most likely be an early walker, since she's already trying to get up on her knees and crawl.  This is exciting and scary at the same time!  I'm anxiously awaiting her to do all these things, but I know they only happen once and I need to slow down and enjoy the stage she's in now.  All in all we got a great report, and don't have to go in for another visit until 9 months (no shots at that one!!!). Have a good weekend, it's supposed to be sunny and 85 degrees both days!  Below is a picture of Amelia's first experience with sweet potatoes!

We have a Blog!

I've decided to start a blog, due to the fact that my baby girl is growing up way too fast, and I want to be able to remember everything!  I've heard and read that a blog would be great way to keep track of our wonderfully crazy life and I'm hoping it will force me to take more pictures!  Amelia will be 6 months old Sunday, SIX MONTHS OLD, already, I CAN NOT believe it.  I remember her birthday so clearly, as if it were yesterday.  Before we had her everyone told us, "it will go by so fast," and I thought that was just one of those things people tell you, but I'm here to tell you, IT HAS GONE BY SO FAST!!!
Here is a quick run down of her most recent milestones:
Amelia is rolling over both ways, she is able to get up on her knees and move forward, I wouldn't call this crawling, because her hands are still in her mouth, but she does move forward.  Saturday the 15th we started feeding her solids, starting with sweet potatoes (veggies first), and Tuesday we moved on to peas.  Grandma Lois called me yesterday to inform me that Amelia had ate ALL of the peas I sent! She must like peas?!?!  She's not too sure about this whole solids thing, but she'll get the hang of it.  She's able to bear weight on her legs and enjoys standing up in our laps.  She has the best laugh; and laughs out loud at us on a regular bases.  She is a talker/screamer (already!) and many nights wakes up in the middle of the night, anywhere from 12am-3am, talking and screaming and then falls back asleep after a few minutes of this rambling.  It's hard to get mad for being woken up when you wake up to this!
Her current likes and dislikes:
She DISLIKES: nap time (and protest daily), being around huge crowds of people (which makes family functions a GREAT time for us), and being hungry!!
She LOVES: putting anything/everything in her mouth, (ie: her feet, hands, my fingers/hair, Daddy's fingers, Sophie the giraffe, you get the point, ANYTHING/EVERYTHING) bath time, playing with Mommy and Daddy, and being outside.
Our lives are crazy busy these days with Amelia, church, work, family, friends, and trying to find time to ride bicycles!  I'm going to do my best to keep up with this Blog, because I really want to be able to look back at this time in our lives and remember it ALL!  I'll leave you with a family picture that we had taken about 3 weeks ago.
