Amelia's First Dentist Appointment

Amelia had her first dentist appointment yesterday.  I was so proud of her and how well she did.  I know adults that don't do as well as she did when they go to the dentist.  She got her teeth cleaned and flossed and a checkup from the dentist, oh and let's not forget she got to pick something out of the treasure box.  :)  As we were leaving she said to me, "I had fun at the dentist!"
Although the dentist did suggest we get her in for a frenectomy.  This is a simple 5 minute procedure done in the office where they, to put it bluntly, trim the muscle that connects the top lip to the gum.  It can require up to three stitches, but we won't know for sure until the Dr. starts the procedure.  Amelia's muscle is rather large and completely attached, which can cause a gap between her front teeth (which she has).  So, I'm not to excited about that, and I'm not sure if Amelia will like the dentist so much after that procedure, but as for now she likes the dentist, even though he suggested we try and encourage her to stop sucking her thumb as well.  Any stop thumb sucking tips?  I'm all about positive reinforcement and I don't want this to be me taking something way from her.  It's going to be a tough few weeks for my baby girl, keep us and her in your prayers.

Can you just see the nervousness?

Bubble gum flavored toothpaste.

The light was bright in her eyes so she got sunglasses.

Blogging Rut?

I'm kind of in a blogging rut right now.  After the holidays we're back into our normal routine (thank goodness) so I don't have a lot of interesting things to write about.  However, the main reason I keep up with this blog for me.  I want to remember the small things that may seem unimportant at the time, but will be great memories in the future.  I'm doing this not only for me, but for Amelia and Asher.  So here's a somewhat random post about our normal everyday lives.  :)

- Asher has recently cut both left and right molars on the bottom.  Poor dude has been chewing on anything and everything. He now was eight teeth.

- Since about a month ago Amelia is 100 percent potty trained, even at night.  :)

- Nathan and I had a weekend away in Branson this past weekend.  I love having alone time, but I really miss the kids, a lot, when we're away.

- I've been doing some serious meal planning for both lunch and dinner and it's making me happy.

- Asher is starting to talk all the time, I love hearing him.  Now, YOU might not understand what he's saying, but I completely get it.  He's a pretty demanding child and knows what he wants.

-  Last Saturday night during bath time Amelia was singing, I was sitting in the bathroom playing on my phone/listen to her and realized I didn't know the song she was singing.  So I asked her to sing it for me.  Well...it was the days of the week song, she sang it perfectly.  I was so proud that she knew the days of the week in the correct order.  I might have made her sing it to her daddy and her mama and poppy because I was so proud.  They money I spend on preschool is paying off!!

- I recently reread The Hunger Games series. LOVE those books!  I've been looking forever for something new to read but keep striking out.

- Amelia say the funniest things sometimes.  They other night I was telling her what the next day held for her.  I was telling her she had a big day tomorrow, she had preschool, she got to stay with Mema after school, and she had dance class that night.  She replied, "I can't handle it.  Takes to much energy."  I don't have a clue where she gets this stuff!!

- One last my funny kids story.  Asher tends to run and hide in our house, and if I can no longer hear him I know he's doing something he shouldn't be doing.  So the other day while we were home I noticed the tell tell sound of silents and went looking for him.  I found him in the laundry room with the door push shut, so I opened the door up and said "What are you doing in here?"  He looks up at me with those big eyes and says, "Laundry."  I just started laughing.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Sunday was Nathan's birthday, we had a nice lunch at mema and poppy's house followed by cake that the kids made for him.  Amelia couldn't wrap her mind around why we weren't have a big party for daddy.  She wanted decorations and the whole shebang.  Nathan explained to her, several times, that birthday party's are a lot different when your an adult.

Baking a cake for dada.
Asher is a great helper.  :)
The best part of baking a cake, right?
They both thought so!
The finished product.  Amelia and Asher did a great job!

Random Picture Post

Here's a pretty random post for you today.  We're back in our normal routine, no big plans or events for a while, so my post are going to be blah blah blah for most.

Amelia loves cooking, here she is mixing up a batch of cookies, but she couldn't decide if she wanted to make the cookies, or watch the TV. :)

Now she's back to making cookies. Silly girl.

How funny is this picture? Both are eating the above baked cookies while sitting on the couch watching TV together. I had to take a picture because this is very RARE that they both stop at the same time.

And it's officially started at our house. I took this picture yesterday after I heard Amelia say, "No boys allowed". Asher wasn't crying he was just trying to figure out how to get in her room after she shut him out.

And here are just some random things that I'm currently loving.

I'm loving this eyeshadow palette.  It's PERFECT, at least for me.  You can find it here at sephora.

Asher is loving these Touch and Feel books.  This one in particular, because it has a 'sticky' section that the pig is in.  This book, along with some marshmallows, allowed him to stay in the sanctuary with us until 9:20, only 10 more minutes and he would have last the WHOLE service!  You can get it here or I think I picked it up at Target.

I'll started reading this chronological Bible this year.  I really like the idea of it being in chronological order, because that's always been a question of mine; When did things really happen in relation to one another?  You can get your own here.

Ok, I know this is weird but I love this Shark handheld vacuum.  I had another one that died not to long ago, it was a Kone, and I loved that thing.  I used it a lot with two kiddos.  Sometimes it just easier to grab a small handheld vacuum and clean up their messes.  This Shark rocks, it was three different attachments, an easy to clean filter and great suction.  We got ours at Lowe's and so can you.

(All these opinions are completely my own and I'm not being paid by anyone, just some random stuff that I'm adoring these days.)

2013

We had another long, relaxing weekend.  I love not having to many plans, and just being able to be at home.  The kids are still enjoying playing with their new Christmas toys, and I'm enjoying the extra space I have now that the Christmas decorations are down.
As I thought about 2013 I realized a number of things; I will be the mom or a 4 year old and a 2 year old at the end of 2013.  I will be 30.  I will have been a wife for 10 years in August.  That's a lot to process.  Only God knows what else 2013 hold for our family, we're just along for the ride.
I don't typical make resolutions.  And this year is no different.  Sure there are plenty of things I would like to improve and ideas I have in my head of certain things I would like to accomplish this coming year.  Nathan and I have even talked about where we would like to be at the end of the year as well.  But if asked if I made any resolutions, I would definitely answer no.
I want to continue being the best me I can be in 2013.  :)
And what's a blog post without pictures of my kiddos??

How funny is this picture? They were each having an evening snack while watching cartoons.

A short test drive on Saturday.

My loves.

This is one of Asher's favorite games right now.  Where's Asher?

Look how big she is!??!

Who needs toys when you have a box?
