Momma Day

I LOVE Momma Days.  Sometimes Momma Days are boring, we have to stay home and do things like clean and laundry.  But other days we are blessed to be able to take fun outings like we did this past Momma Day.  These pictures were taken at Wilson-Rutledge Farm Park.  I think it's safe to say we all a great time!  The kids were so wore out, Amelia even asked to go to bed at 5:30!

SDC Fun!

On Monday of our long three day weekend we headed to Silver Dollar City for the first time this season.  We have passes so I'm sure it was the first of many trips this year.  The kids love it.  Amelia is able to ride most of the rides, however, Asher is still 2 inches to short to ride most of the rides, which makes him sad.  He kept saying, "ride too ride too."  Poor dude.  I'm thinking about rigging him up some platform shoes, do you think that's acceptable?

I love these pictures, Amelia was making Asher laugh through the top off the stroller.

Riding the train.

My loves.

We stopped to watch a show. A lady was singing and playing a violin.  They were entranced.

I'll try not to flood my blog with SDC pictures this summer, but I'm warning you we'll be spending a lot of time there.  :)  Also, Asher looks funny in all the pictures because we are weaning him from his bink and he's decided to grit his teeth instead, if you look at the pictures you can see him holding his mouth funny.  Any suggestions there??

First time fishing

We had a great long weekend and took advantage of the beautiful weather we had and spent a lot of time outside.  Sunday after church we made plans to head to Springfield for lunch with another family.  We ran home after church to briefly change and grab a few things.  While we were at home Nathan says, "Hey let's go fishing after lunch."  I said, OK and a plan was formed.  I quickly text the Reavis's and invited to join us after lunch and they were in as well so off we went.  First stop was Mexican Villa, followed by Academy for a few fishing trip essentials. Then we hit up Lake Springfield and fished for a bit, followed up by Andy's.  I'm not sure they day could have got any better.  :) Side note: We are blessed to have great friends to share these experiences with.

Fish face from Amelia.

Checking everything out.
He was looking at the worms.

Amelia's first time fishing.

She's a pro.

This little guy wasn't interested for very long.

You can see he's not real into it.

They both lost interest and we ran up and down hills instead.

Look at those cheeks.

Random Ramblings

~ I was out of town, alone, Monday and Tuesday of last week.  I'm happy to say I survived and so did Nathan and the kids.  This is the first time I've went to a meeting by myself, it was a bit odd I must say.

~ Amelia and I made little teacher appreciation gifts to give to each of the teachers at preschool.  I instructed for to give it to them and say, I appreciate you.  So on the way to school I asked her, 'Amelia what are you going to say?'  She replied with 'Congratulations!'  I had to laugh.

Amelia and her teacher, Ms. Amy.
~ Yikes, our summer schedule is already looking crazy!  But it also involves lots of fun!  I can't wait.

~ Amelia has been saying the funniest things lately.  The other day I was trying to load the kids up and told Asher it was time to go, well he took off running away from me, I tried to grab him but failed and Amelia hollers, "Seize him!"  I had to stop and laugh, I didn't even know she knew that word, yet alone what it meant.  She informed me she learn it on Sofia the First.  Of course she did.  See TV does educate.

She got her first real boo boo.

~ Asher is officially a big boy, we turned his car seat around this weekend.  Our Pediatrician suggested that we wait until 2, but he's got such long legs, I felt bad for him, so we did it.  He's loving facing forward and now demands sunglasses!

~ We only have one more episode of Downton Abby to watch before we're all caught up, I'm going to wait a while, because I really love this show and season 4 isn't schedule to air until the beginning on next year. Boo.

~ I'm currently listening to a book on CD!  I used to do this a lot driving back and forth to college, but nothing since.  However, with my St Louis trip last week I had a lot of windshield time so I got The Racketeer by John Grishman.  I'm really enjoying it.  I asked Nathan the other night if it was weird if I went and sat in my truck to listen a while before I went to bed.  He laughed.  I guess that meant it was weird, so I didn't go.

~ Asher's new favorite thing to say is too, as in also.  For example, "Walk, too.  Sunglasses, too.  Cookie, too."  He wants everything Amelia has or does and let's us know it. :)  He is also working on another tooth, I'll be glad when it finally breaks through.

Asleep with a sucker in his mouth.

~ Sad Momma moment, today is the last day of preschool for Amelia.  Look how much she's grown, and how much her looks have changed.  I'm going to be a mess when Kindergarten rolls around.

My mind is blown.

Perfect Weekend

We had an absolutely perfect weekend!  Saturday was a day full of dance.  First up was dress rehearsal followed by a late afternoon recital.  Amelia did wonderful, and I'll post those pictures in a whole other post soon.
After her recital we went to my mom's to celebrate Mother's Day with an easy dinner of hamburgers and hot dogs. Yum!  I'm so thankful Spring tempertures seem to be here to stay.
Although my kids didn't get the memo that sleeping in on Mother's Day would be the best gift ever, we still had a pretty great day.  Amelia made me a card at preschool and surprised me with it while I was in the shower.  Her timing isn't the best, but she was super excited.  After my shower I was able to check out what she made at school, and it was the perfect Mother's Day present in itself.  Nathan spoiled me as well, with a new purse and a new long mirror (the kids hard broken my other one a LONG time ago).
Sunday at church Amelia and some of the other kids were supposed to sing two songs.  Well come time to sing Asher was determined to go sing too, so he did.  My heart could have burst right then and there.  They both did wonderfully.
After church and naps we head to Nathan's parents house for a yummy lunch and some quality time playing outside.
To finish the day up we ran to Lowe's to get some flowers so I could finish my planting for this spring.  After Lowe's we randomly stopped at a shaved ice stand where had a great time sharing shaved ice with our kiddos.  We spend the rest of the evening outside planting my flowers and working on our landscaping.  Seriously, a perfect day with my favorite people.

Amelia's handprint picture says, I love to hug her and she always brings me my favorite dinner.

Love them.

MIA

Sorry I've been missing in action for a while.  When was the last time I posted? Ok I just looked TWO weeks ago.  Oh my goodness.  FAIL.  So I'm just going to ramble a bit about what's been going on over the past two weeks.

I will be back at the Menu Monday and regular blogging now!  Promise.

- Spring has came! So we've been playing outside a lot, this year it is SO much easier, I see lots of outside time in our future!  :)

Mowing, don't tell him he's not in the grass.
~ With that about statement being said, Friday, this Friday, May 3rd, they are calling for a chance of snow?!?!?!  What?  Stupid Missouri weather.  Try explaining shorts and t-shirts one day to pants and coats the next day to my kids.  UGH.

~ So, I've received five graduation invitation, am I obligated to send/get each one a gift?  I don't know how this works exactly.

~ I've not only been a failure at blogging, I've been a failure at cooking.  Seems like we've been running every night so we just grab something quick and easy.  Our weeks are going to look like this: Monday night - I zumba, Tuesday night - Nathan has started riding bicycles, Wednesday night - we are actually home together, Thursday night - Amelia has dance, Nathan rides bikes until 8, then I go to late Zumba and Friday night - we're home together. Insane, but we make it work and I'm GOING to get better at having dinner at home.

~ Gus, our dog, had to go.  :(  He was such a great dog and we really loved him, but he decided he didn't like Amelia.  I don't know why or what happened, but Saturday he randomly started growling at her and even tried to nip at her.  She's the sweet one, always petted him and loved on him.  Asher was the one that tried to run him over with toys and whatnot and Gus was fine with him.  Amelia was super sad and just wanted him to love her, but I couldn't take the chance of him actually biting her.  However, I'm confident we found him a great home where he'll be loved and showered with attention.

~ Amelia is gearing up for her Spring Dance Recital, it's May 11th.  Also her last day of school is May 16th, that girl isn't going to know what to do this summer.  :)

Modeling their costumes.

~ I'm in the misted of planning us a mini family vaca to St. Louis in June and a bigger trip for just Nathan and I for our TEN year anniversary.  The sad part is we can't decide where we want to go.  Any good suggestions?  Honestly we are thinking a MAX of four nights away.

Cooking together

~ Asher is at such a fun age right now.  The little stinker thinks it's SO funny, for instance, when I tell him 'I love you' he replies with 'I love you Daddy' and then laugh.  He SO knows what he's doing.  :)

~ Alright, I'm finished rambling for now.  I'll be back sooner than later this time!
