Things I'm thankful for...

Tonight as I lay in bed listening to the sounds of my snoring children and a snoring husband I know I am without a doubt blessed beyond my wildest imagination.
We are on another mini vacation for a few days at Big Cedar.  Mema and Papa are meeting up with us tomorrow for some more fun.
So in no particular order, things I'm thankful for at this moment.
- a God who loves me unconditionally
- healthy children
- my incredible husband who works endlessly
- a warm bed, with my own pillow
- wifi (I didn't promise a non-superficial list)
- best friends
- silence
- laugher
- DVD players and disney junior :)
- family time

Have a great weekend!!

DIY 4th of July shirts

The kids and I made some festive 4th of July shirts yesterday. I must say I think they are super cute and they were fairly easy to make.  Messy, but easy.  :)
First things first we headed to Wal-Mart where you can get EVERYTHING to pick up our supplies. We grabbed Amelia a white t-shirt, went to grab Asher one as well, and guess what, no shirt in little man's size, however I remembered he had one at home that I had bought as an undershirt so no worries there.  Next we went to find our paint.  I bought actual fabric paint.  The instructions say to paint, allow to dry and wash 48 hours later, so this is what I'll do.  Next we were on the hunt for something star shaped, we found the perfect size star shaped form pieces, I wasn't concerned with the color because I knew we were going to be painting over them.
Back at home I lined the shirts with newspaper to prevent bleeding through and went to work with some painters tape that I already had and the form sticker stars I purchased.  This was the finished product after I taped them.
Next I got the kids ready, but ready I mean I took their shirts off and handed them paint brushes. :)
I explained to Amelia to paint the white lines with the red paint.  With Asher I just put the plate that had the red paint on it over the top of the stars where we wanted to paint blue.  They had fun and did really well.  I didn't get any 'in process' pictures because I was trying to mange two kids and paint. Also a friendly tip fabric paint does not come off the skin so easy.  Amelia ended up getting it on her belly from leaning on the table to paint the top of the shirt.  I had to scrub her with a wash cloth at bath time.  :) Here are pictures of the shirts post-painting and pre-untaping.

Amelia's
Asher's
And finally after I removed the tape.  I love them.  I'll post pictures of the kids wearing them soon!  Have a great day.

Vacation re-cap is coming as well, but I forgot my camera card today, bummer I know.

Random Ramblings

~Last night I went to a Zumbathon, that was held outside.  It was actually a lot of fun.  Hot, but fun.

~ I broke a huge rule of mine.  I bought Amelia a Hello Kitty shirt.  I've had a self imposed rule for no character shirts, I'm fine with pj's, but as for actually outfits or shirts I've always said no.  But I failed and broke the rule.  Amelia really liked it, and it wasn't that bad as far as character shirts go.  Don't ask why I have this rule, I know it makes NO sense, it's just another one of my things.

~ Say a quick prayer for our babysitter Sara, she had her tonsils out Wednesday.  I've always heard it is much harder on adults than children.  Pray she does well and has a quick uneventful recovery.

~ When does Big Brother start?  Doesn't anyone else watch it?  We are huge Big Brother fans.

~ We once again went to the farm/park Tuesday and had a picnic lunch.  The kids chased the ducks, Asher ate a grape off of the ground and choose to feed the ducks his chips instead of eat them.  Good times.

~  The kids got in the pool Tuesday too.  It wasn't warm yet, still pretty much freezing, but they had fun.  I think I let them stay in a total of 15 minutes, maybe.

~ Wednesday was my Father-in-law's birthday.  He's a great FIL and a wonderful Poppy to the kids.  We framed a picture for him to put on his desk.

~ We're headed to Sliver Dollar City again tomorrow, I'll try not to post too many pictures next week.  Hope you have a great weekend too.

Fun Weekend

We had such a great weekend!! Saturday morning was the city wide garage sale in Aurora, so I gathered up a few things and we sat up outside the shop for a few hours.  It was a good day weather wise, which was a plus.  Sale wise it was OK, but hey I'll take a little extra cash any day!
After the garage sale we had ZERO plans, a huge deal for us lately.  We hung out at home and decided to put the little pool up that we bought for the kids a few weeks back.  Then they decided to run around in the corn field behind our house.  Reminding me of children of the corn.  :)

Great helpers

Splashing

Doesn't every little boy run around in the corn with Geo, a binky and his cloth diaper?

A blur because she was running too fast.

We're going to have fun in this little pool I do believe.

After church on Sunday we headed down to Roaring River to hang out for the day.  The weather ended up being prefect again and we had a great family day!

I love my family.

Life Lately

~ Life is a little crazy right now, I'm not sure if I'm coming or going.  If I didn't have a planner I would be LOST.

~ Amelia started Summer Dance Tuesday night.  She was happy to be back at dance.

~ Nathan and I officially booked our 10 year anniversary trip, we will be going to New York City in August!  Any tips/suggestions??

~ Asher has two teeth coming in right now, I know they hurt, poor dude.

~ We've been spending a lot of time outside playing, Amelia and Asher now request the park.  :)

~ Nathan grandparents have been bringing up fresh picked strawberries from their garden by the gallon baggie.  I finally had to tell them to stop, there's only so much you can do with fresh strawberries.  Not only have we been getting strawberries, we've been getting farm fresh eggs from Uncle Gary.  I seriously have about 4-5 dozen eggs in my fridge right now, what am I supposed to do with all of them!?!?

~ In two weekends we're heading to St. Louis as a family of four.  I'm excited, however this will be the longest the kids have ever ridden in the car, I hope they do well.  We're planning on hitting up the zoo, maybe Grant's Farm, possibly the City Museum and the Magic House.  I'm just not 100% sure there is stuff at the last two places for my kids.  Anyone have an insight?

~ I've been thinking about birthday's already too.  Asher will be two in three short months, and Amelia will turn four in November.  She's already requested a Strawberry Shortcake party.  We'll see if this holds up in the coming months.

~ What I wouldn't do for a date night that involved Mexican food, just saying....

~ I might have an unhealthy addiction to buying the kids clothes.  It's hard.  They make SO many cute things. :(  Speaking of clothes I'm FINALLY getting around to getting Amelia's onesie quilt made.  SO excited about it.

~ Have a good Thursday!
